Trisha Meili is a survivor…

of epic proportions. http://www.usatoday.com/life/2005-06-28-meili-cover_x.htm

Six thirty minus three equals three thirty

Ugh. I flew into Boston last night for a customer meeting this morning. Going from PST to EST makes it really easy to stay up too late and really, really hard to wake up in the morning. I got in early enough last night to crash the Gartner Portfolio and Project Management conference where we [...]

El Camino — it’s longer than you think

( Travels )

Despite reports of recent violence Jul and I headed down to Santa Barbara last weekend. On a previous trip we took note of “historic bells” along the side of the road but didn’t think much of them. On this trip we paid more attention and realized there are bells, on average, every mile for the [...]

I’m no detective…

Let us review events of late: A. Rus needs coffee. B. Rus drinks too much coffee and lashes out at Adobe. (Rus also refers to me as faceless “boss” with clear Dilbert undertones — probably unrelated to this series of events but still worth noting.) C. Warning shot is taken at Rus’ old office. My cousin Julie finished breast cancer treatment last year and all looked good. They just found the cancer in her pelvic bone and a few spots in the vertebrae. She goes back into treatment tomorrow. Fills me with sadness, fear, a great deal of guilt, and a really strong feeling of helplessness.

Raised vegetable beds

If there is anything I have learned about gardening over the last 5 years it is that it is never something you “finish,” just something you “keep doing.” Jul and I are constantly moving things around as we figure out the yard. Things you put in one place, grow differently than you expect, or look [...]

Wired headset 1, Bluetooth headset 0

Some of you might remember I accidentally put my bluetooth headset through the wash a couple weeks ago and it didn’t fair so well. In a repeat performance I managed to put my wired headset through the wash last weekend. It still works! (At least since Sunday.) There are two clear conclusions I can make [...]

Morgan TO-DO’s

From the “best headline of the week” department… Wall Street Journal, front page of the business section, “Morgan Stanley TO-DO List: Get Boss, Strategy.”
