Life Soundtrack

Posted on Monday 1 August 2005

On Friday my flight to Detroit was delayed long enough that it was clear I was going to miss my connection in Minneapolis. Northwest was extremely accommodating and put me on the red-eye that night. I managed to convince them to put me in first class which made it quite pleasant. It was a beautiful clear night to fly and I was listening to the Whale Rider soundtrack as we took off (yes, I know, against the rules). We left the SFO runway and skimmed across the water and took a hard left bank across the bay. Everything was lit up in the city. You could see both bridges, the ballpark, large freighters entering the harbor, and an endless stream of cars on the bay areas highways. The Maori chant hit a crescendo as the plane turned east and I realized I wish life had a soundtrack.
