Total disbelief

I continue to be absolutely flabbergasted by the ineptitude and total stupidity that surrounds the Katrina disaster. I find myself stunned on a daily basis by the total incompetence.

A few days ago my parents headed down to Houston to try to help. They found a contact in the Houston school system through my dad’s project on adult literacy. They packed up 18 suitcases of school supplies which Northwest Airlines was generous enough to allow and check through free of charge. They are down there now trying to prepare Houston schools for the load of additional kids. Last I talked to them they were at a food bank packing boxes to go to shelters. It helps to hear stories of things that are actually working.
