I’ve been hunting for the perfect briefcase for as long as I can remember. The most important characteristics for me are:
- Easy to slip laptop in and out
- Comfortable for long walks through O’hare
- Pockets for digital camera, ipod, and bluetooth mouse
- Takes a massive amount of abuse
- Outside pocket for water bottle/coffee thermos
- Makes me feel cooler than I am
My search is finally over — the bumbakpak is made by a small company in New York and I believe it is the perfect bag. I’ve used it now for about two months and it is everything I want. I like the comfort of backpacks but like the accessibility of an over the shoulder briefcase. The bumbakpak provides both. I highly, highly recommend it.
This looks fantastic! I have been through several laptop backpacks and my back is still killing me. Haven’t found anything that doesn’t cause injury after a 30 minute melee on the tube or a much too common sprint to a closing gate.

Yeah! I’ve had the white makbakpak for a few weeks now and it’s the best. Has all the room and looks of a messenger bag plus you can carry it around like a backpack. My bag is loaded with gear (laptop, videocam, books, lunch, ipod, etc.) but my back doesn’t even feel it. Great for commuting & catching those buses and subways. I even took it hiking!
