Nicholas Scott Johnston was born on 9/26 at 11:37 in Escondido, CA (just north of San Diego.) I’m sure you will all be shocked to learn he has a blog.

In the last decade adoptions have been moving from closed adoptions to open adoptions. In a closed adoption, the baby is separated from the birth mother immediately after birth. The birth mother’s information is sealed and the child is given to a family chosen by the adoption agency. In an open adoption the birth parents choose the adoptive family and have the option of maintaining a relationship with the child and adoptive family throughout the child’s life.

We met Nicholas’ birth parents (Mary and Jon) back in June and have gotten to know them over the last four months. They are both truly amazing people.
Nicholas was due on September 15th but didn’t make his appearance until September 26th. I think the womb is a bit like a hot tub with a feeding tube and a noise machine so I can’t say I blame him.
