Ken, I’ve gotten all kinds of “former colleagues at Google.” I have no idea where these people come from or what they could possibly hope to gain. I keep being scared they are people I’ve met with several times and I just don’t remember their name. Man would that be embarrassing.

I’m pretty much a hard-ass when it comes to LinkedIn. I’ll only accept invites from people I have met in person. I usually silently reject (or ignore) anything else.

BTW, have you noticed a significant uptick in invites since we joined Google? I’m amazed at the number of “former colleagues at Google” who’d like to make my acquaintance. not to mention the usual recruiters.
