Please destroy the chair

Posted on Wednesday 14 March 2007

We recently bought leather chairs for the living room from reclinersplus.com (a company I strongly recommend). One of the chairs was damaged in shipping (leather at the base ripped) and so they sent us a replacement. We asked when we should expect somebody to pick up the damaged chair. Here was their response:

Due to return shipping costs, we ask that you destroy the
item. If we can be of further assistance, please email
or call us at the number below.

Sincerely,
Customer Service
ReclinersPlus.com

I’ve destroyed a lot of expensive things. This is the first time somebody has asked me to do it.

Craigs list!? You kidding? No way I’m passing up a chance to destroy such a large piece of furniture.

You could donate it to some organization that can use the corporate waste money for some good. My sister’s school was shipped a double order of candy for a fundraiser, and the company wouldn’t take it back. No charity needs hundreds of boxes of candy, so she and her colleagues took it upon themselves to sell the rest of the stuff and give the cash to local shelters. Total “warm fuzzy”.

Or burn it and post a shaky video on YouTube.
